Comment, mention and work together

Comments keep a discussion beside the asset or relationship it concerns. Use mentions to draw a colleague's attention, then record agreed changes through the normal editing or suggestion procedures.

Write a comment

Comments depend on your plan and read access to the resource. Viewers can comment when those conditions are met. The procedure below uses Real data. Creating an asset comment is unavailable in a scenario. Relationship comments can be created in that context, but scenario mentions do not send notifications. An inactive resource does not offer the comment form.

  1. Open the asset or relationship page.
  2. Select Comments.
  3. Enter your message. Type @, search for the member and select them. Typing their name as ordinary text does not create a mention.
  4. If useful, attach an image using Add images, drag-and-drop or paste.
  5. Click Send or press Enter. Use Shift + Enter for a new line.
  6. Wait for the sending indicator to disappear and check that your comment appears in the discussion.

A comment accepts up to 2,000 characters and five images. Each image must be JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF, with a maximum size of 10,000,000 bytes. You can send an image without text; empty files are not accepted. Attachments are images, not general PDF, Word or CSV files.

If sending fails, the composer keeps your draft and displays an error. Check the result before sending again to avoid duplicating a message that already appeared.

Edit or delete a comment

Open the comment's menu to see the actions your account can perform. The author can edit its text, then choose Save or Cancel. Edited comments carry an indication that they were modified. Editing does not replace attached images.

The author or an administrator can delete a comment. An administrator cannot edit another author's text through this menu. Commands can be unavailable while sending or when the resource is inactive.

Deleting a comment does not recall a notification already delivered. If your message needs correction, consider whether a visible clarification is more useful to the discussion than removing its context.

Understand mentions

A mention does not grant access to hidden information. The recipient must be an active member who can read the asset or relationship. Their notification preferences also apply.

New mentions can trigger notifications, including when you add a new mention by editing a comment. Mentioning yourself does not notify you. Existing mentions are not notified again merely because you edited the text.

Boldo can skip the alert when the recipient is already actively reading the comment. A missing email alone does not show that the mention failed. Mention emails link back to Boldo without including the resource name or comment text.

Work together and check saving

Discussions receive updates as comments arrive. In diagrams and processes, the presence panel displays known participants. Selecting another participant toggles following their viewpoint; it does not grant editing rights.

Presence and saving are different signals. Seeing another person's avatar does not prove that your latest change has been stored. Follow the saving behavior of the screen you are using.

For example, views and dashboards expose Save and may show unsaved changes. Diagrams and processes use collaborative editors with their own saving behavior. Do not assume every page shares the same cursor display or automatic saving.

If you leave an editor with unsaved changes, read its exit prompt before choosing an action. After a connection interruption, check the saved result before continuing a coordinated edit with colleagues.
