Move, copy and share a copy
Move a visualization to reorganize it, or duplicate it to keep the original and create another version. The result depends on the destination space, especially for dashboards with personal sources.
Choose the intended result
| Operation | Result |
|---|---|
| Move within one space | The same visualization appears at another catalog location. |
| Move Personal to Shared | The existing visualization becomes shared and leaves Personal. |
| Move Shared to Personal | Boldo creates a personal copy. The shared original remains. The final button becomes Copy. |
| Duplicate | A new visualization is created with the name and destination you choose. |
| Duplicate into Shared | A shared copy is created while the original remains in place. |
These actions require Editor or higher. Permissions on the item and destination determine which commands are available. Copies also count toward visualization quotas.
A shared catalog item remains governed by organization access rights. To provide read-only access without a Boldo account, use a share link on compatible content.
Move a visualization
- Open the visualization and its Actions menu.
- Choose Move.
- Select Space, then open Destination, choose the folder and click Select.
- Review access domains and any warning about the destination.
- Read the final action: Move preserves the existing item; Copy creates a personal copy of a shared item.
- Confirm the action, then check the destination in the catalog.
For Shared to Personal, the dialog explains that the item cannot be moved into your personal space and a copy will be created instead. The page can remain on the shared original after copying. Open the new personal copy from the catalog and check that the original remains available.
Folders cannot change space. In a scenario, you cannot move folders or move content between spaces. Only visualizations created within that scenario can move within their current space.
Keep an original and duplicate it
- Save changes you want included in the duplicate.
- Open Actions > Duplicate.
- Enter the new Name.
- Choose the destination space, folder and access domains when offered.
- Click Duplicate.
- Open the result and verify its content, location and audience. Confirm that the original is still present.
Duplication starts from saved content. In editors that offer it, Save as can instead save the current draft as a new visualization. Follow the specific view or dashboard procedure when working with unsaved changes.
Renaming a duplicate does not make it independent of the assets and relationships its content reads. Those references continue to use the knowledge base and current permissions.
Check a dashboard's embedded sources
Moving a personal dashboard to Shared also moves its embedded personal visualizations that belong to you. Those sources retain their identity, enter the shared destination and receive the specified access domains. Their personal originals do not remain behind.
Duplicating a dashboard into Shared creates shared copies of your embedded personal visualizations and points the copied dashboard at them. Repeated references to the same source use one copied source. Already shared sources remain referenced.
This treatment covers views, charts, diagrams, nested maps and impact analyses. It does not move inventory assets or relationships into the catalog.
Duplicating into Personal does not automatically duplicate every embedded visualization. The copied dashboard can retain references to shared sources. It is therefore not an independent archive of all displayed information.
Before sharing the result, open its widgets and check their sources, access domains and visibility to the intended audience. The dashboard's existence alone does not prove that every widget will be readable.
