Definitions of terms used in Boldo and enterprise architecture.
A
Access Domain
A business perimeter used to control access to shared content and assets.
AI Access Level
The setting that defines what data the AI assistant may use in an organization: Level 1 - Platform only (metamodel, rights, domains, and documentation) or Level 2 - Business data (also the data the current user is allowed to read).
AI Assistant
The in-product assistant that answers questions, prepares proposals, and enriches assets from the knowledge base, always within the user's Boldo rights.
AI Project
A grouping of AI conversations and documents around a specific work context. Each user can keep up to 5 AI projects.
Archived Asset
An asset removed from active inventory results but retained with its properties, history, domains, and references for restoration or permanent deletion.
Asset
The fundamental unit of information in Boldo. An asset represents something you want to document in the knowledge base.
Asset Type
A category of assets sharing the same structure. Asset types are part of the metamodel.
Draft Asset
A diagram element that has been named and placed visually but has not yet been added to the inventory as a full asset.
B
Boldo ID
The unique internal identifier assigned to each asset. Included in CSV exports and usable as a stable matching key during import.
Boldo-hosted Models
AI models provided by Boldo that need no customer key. Their usage counts against the organization's Boldo-hosted AI budget.
BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)
Using your own AI provider key (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or Mistral) instead of Boldo-hosted models. BYOK usage is billed through your provider key, not the Boldo-hosted budget.

Canvas
The diagram workspace where you place and organize visual elements.
Catalog
The left-side area that stores saved folders and visualizations. It is split between personal space and organization space.
Category
A named group of asset types in the metamodel, used to organize the metamodel page and the inventory navigation.
Chart
An analytical visualization built from the knowledge base, such as a pie, bar, scatter, line, area, radar, gauge, or metric chart.

Dashboard
A composite visualization page that gathers several widgets on a grid. Each widget displays a chart, a view, a diagram, a nested map, a single asset, or a rich-text block.
Diagram
A visual workspace used to organize and present information from the knowledge base.

Enterprise Architecture
The discipline that structures and documents an organization's components, such as business capabilities, applications, data, and infrastructure, and the relationships between them.
Exploration Mode
An interactive simulation that walks through a process flow step by step, letting you choose paths at each branch.
Export
Data extraction from Boldo to an external file or image, depending on the current screen.

Filter
Selection criteria to display a subset of assets in a view or search.
Flow Access
Permission level that controls whether a user can view or edit process flows on a given asset type. Flow access is capped by the user's asset rights.

Governance
Set of rules and processes that govern information system management: roles, responsibilities, workflows.
I
Import
Loading external data into Boldo, typically via CSV file.
Inventory
The central knowledge base of a Boldo organization.
Item
A folder or a visualization stored in the catalog. In Boldo, a visualization can be a view, a diagram, a chart, a nested map, or a dashboard.
K
Key
The unique technical identifier of an asset type, property, or relationship type. Used in URLs and API calls.
Knowledge Base
The shared structured information stored in the inventory: assets, their properties, and their relationships.
L
Lane
A horizontal band in a process flow that groups steps by a selected referenced asset type.
M
MCP (Model Context Protocol)
A read-only server that lets external, MCP-compatible assistants query an organization's Boldo data and documentation, scoped to one organization and the approving user's rights.
Metamodel
The schema that defines asset types, properties, and relationship types in the knowledge base.
N
Nested Map
A hierarchical visualization computed from relationship paths and displayed as nested blocks.
O
Organization
Isolated workspace in Boldo with its own metamodel, inventory, and users. An account can belong to multiple organizations.
Organization Space
The shared part of the catalog used for content meant to be reused, published, or shared with other members of the organization.
P
360 Page
The detailed asset page that gathers the main information about one asset.
Personal Space
The private part of the catalog where a user can keep personal work, drafts, or copies not yet shared with the organization.
Process Flow
A visual step-by-step workflow modeled within a flow-enabled asset. It belongs to that asset and is composed of start, task, choice, and end steps connected by edges.
Property
A field defined in the metamodel to describe assets of a given type.
Provider Key
An external AI provider API key (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or Mistral) configured by an administrator to enable BYOK models.
R
Relationship
The actual link between two assets in the inventory. It follows a relationship type defined in the metamodel.
Relationship Type
The rule in the metamodel that defines how one asset type can connect to another. A relationship type combines a source asset type, a relationship name, and a target asset type.
Role
A permission set that defines what a user can do. Access domains define where those permissions apply.

Step
A node in a process flow. Steps can be start points, tasks, choices, or end points.
U
Unique Key
A property type that enforces uniqueness across all assets of the same type. Useful as a stable matching key for CSV import and API use.
User
Person with a Boldo account belonging to one or more organizations.
User Type
The global rights level of an organization member: Viewer, Editor, Administrator, or Owner.
V
Visualization
A saved representation built from the knowledge base. In Boldo, visualizations include views, diagrams, charts, nested maps, and dashboards.
View
A structured reading of the knowledge base defined by filters, grouping, sorting, and layout options.
W
Widget
A single block on a dashboard. A widget can display a chart, a view, a diagram, a nested map, an asset, or rich text. Widgets are resizable and can be moved on the grid in edit mode.
