Introducing Boldo AI
Boldo AI is now available across the application. Teams can ask questions about their knowledge base, prepare changes, work with project documents, and connect external assistants through MCP.
AI assistant in the workspace
The assistant helps users work from their current context. It can answer questions, inspect diagrams, views, charts, nested maps, process flows, and prepare proposals that users review before applying.
AI follows the user's Boldo rights. It can only use data the approving user is allowed to access.

Projects and attachments
AI projects group conversations and documents around a specific work context, such as a migration, audit, or architecture review.
Project documents and message attachments have documented limits:
- up to 5 AI projects per user
- up to 6 saved documents per project
- up to 1 MB per uploaded document
- project document text indexed up to 120,000 characters
- one-off message text attachments sent up to 40,000 characters
- one-off image attachments only when the selected model supports vision
PDF, Word, DOCX, and image files are not stored as project documents.

Boldo-hosted and BYOK providers
The AI settings page now separates the built-in Boldo-hosted provider from customer-managed provider keys.
Supported BYOK providers are:
- Claude
- OpenAI
- Gemini
- Mistral
Boldo-hosted models do not require a customer key. BYOK models appear in the model picker when the corresponding provider key is configured and readable. Keys are encrypted and never shown again after they are saved.

Budgets and usage
The organization AI budget applies to Boldo-hosted usage. BYOK usage is billed through the provider key configured by the administrator, so it does not consume the Boldo-hosted budget.
The usage page shows the current budget window, budget percentage, conversations, messages, users, models, and last activity. Raw token totals stay internal and are not shown on the organization-facing usage page.

MCP follows AI access and organization controls
MCP remains read-only, and its available tools now align with the organization AI access level. With Metamodel, external assistants can inspect structure and documentation. With Data, they can also read Boldo data that the approving user is allowed to see.
MCP authorization is limited to eligible organizations only. The connection is checked on every call against the same constraints as the app: plan, AI availability, user AI access, SSO requirements, enabled sign-in methods, 2FA enforcement, IP whitelist, and connected-app revocation.
