Organize process flows with lanes

Process flows can now be organized into lanes. Choose a referenced asset type such as Application, Team, or Actor, and Boldo groups the flow into horizontal bands for each matching asset.

Group steps by responsibility or system

Lanes make long process flows easier to scan when work moves between teams, systems, applications, or other participants.

Open Lanes from the canvas toolbar, then choose the asset type that should structure the view. Each step is placed in the band for the referenced asset of that type. Steps without a matching reference stay in Unassigned.

Keep process ownership visible

When a step references several assets for the selected lane type, Boldo highlights it with a warning. This helps you spot steps that need a clearer owner, participant, or system before presenting the flow.

Lane order can follow the flow, be sorted alphabetically, or be rearranged manually. This keeps the view readable for workshops, reviews, and exports.

Why this matters

Process flows often describe work that crosses organizational and technical boundaries. Lanes make those boundaries visible without duplicating the flow or creating separate diagrams. Teams can see who or what is involved at each step while keeping the process sequence in one place.
